Spades Table
Four-player Spades with a computer partner. Bid your tricks, follow suit, and play to 150 or 250 points with your partner.
How to play
- You and North are partners against West and East. Each player is dealt thirteen cards.
- Bid how many tricks you expect to take, or bid Nil to promise none at all. The computer players bid for themselves.
- Follow the suit that was led if you can. Spades beat every other suit, but cannot be led until a spade has been played.
- Make your side's bid for 10 points a trick. Extra tricks are bags worth 1 each, and ten bags cost 100.
Tips and strategy
- Count your aces, high spades and short suits before you bid. Bid a little under what you hope to win.
- Support your partner. If they are already winning a trick, throw your lowest card.
- A void suit lets you trump in with a spade, which can win a trick you would otherwise lose.
- Watch the bags. Taking many extra tricks late in the game can cost you a 100 point penalty.
