Order Dash
Work out each sum using the proper order of operations. Brackets, squares, then multiply and divide. Reading left to right is a trap. A new daily set is waiting.
How to play
- Each question shows an expression. Pick its value, working in the proper order: brackets, then squares, then multiplication and division, then addition and subtraction.
- Early questions test multiplication before addition. Later ones add brackets, three operations at once and squares.
- One of the wrong options is the answer you would get by working strictly left to right, so it pays to slow down.
- A wrong pick is greyed out and counted as a mistake. The daily set is the same for everyone and resets at 00:00 UTC. Practice mode has sets of 8, 12 or 20 questions.
Tips and strategy
- Circle the multiplications and divisions first and work them out, then do the additions and subtractions from left to right.
- Anything in brackets is done first, even if it is at the end of the sum.
- A square applies to the number or bracket just before it, so (2 + 3)² is 25 and not 11.
- With equal-rank operations such as 12 ÷ 3 × 2, work left to right: 4 × 2 is 8.
FAQ
- Are BODMAS and PEMDAS the same?
- Yes. They are two names for the same rules: brackets, powers, then division and multiplication, then addition and subtraction.
- Are all divisions exact?
- Yes. Every division in the game divides without a remainder, so every answer is a whole number.
- Is the answer ever negative?
- No. Every result is a whole number from 0 up.
