Number Bonds
Pair up numbers that add to 10, 20 or 100 and clear the board. A quick mental-maths workout with a daily board and three sizes.
How to play
- The heading shows the target total, for example 20.
- Tap one number, then tap another number that makes the target when added to it.
- A correct pair disappears. A wrong pair is counted as a mistake.
- Pair every number to finish. Smaller boards use 10, then 20, then 100.
Tips and strategy
- Work out the partner of each number first: for a target of 20, the partner of 7 is 13.
- Start with the numbers that have an obvious partner and leave the awkward ones for last.
- For 100, think in tens first: 100 take away 63 is 37 because 63 plus 37 ends in 100.
- Any number can pair with any matching partner, so you can never trap yourself with a correct pair.
FAQ
- What is a number bond?
- A number bond is a pair of numbers that make a total, such as 6 and 4 making 10. Knowing them makes addition and subtraction much faster.
- Can the board get stuck?
- No. Every number has a partner on the board, so any correct pairing leaves a board you can still finish.
- Is the daily board the same for everyone?
- Yes. The daily board is built from the UTC date.
