Missing Letter
One letter is hidden in each word and only one letter makes it a real word. Pick the right one before the minute is up, and watch out: a wrong pick costs you time.
How to play
- Press Start. A word appears with one letter replaced by a blank, such as PLA_ET.
- Tap the letter that completes the word, or press it on your keyboard.
- A right answer scores 10 points plus a streak bonus of up to 5. A wrong answer breaks your streak and takes 3 seconds off the clock.
- Words start at five letters and grow to seven. When the 60 seconds are up your score is saved if it is your best.
Tips and strategy
- Say the word with each candidate letter in your head. Your ear often catches the right one faster than your eyes.
- Common patterns help: a blank after a Q is nearly always U, and double letters hide in the middle of longer words.
- Every puzzle is built so that exactly one letter works, so if two letters seem to fit, look again for a word you know.
- Keep your streak going. By five in a row each answer is worth 15 points instead of 10.
FAQ
- Could more than one letter be right?
- No. The game only uses blanks where exactly one letter produces a word from the dictionary.
- Why does a wrong answer cost time?
- It stops random tapping from beating careful play. The 3 second penalty means guessing does not pay.
- Is there a daily version?
- Not for this game. Every run draws fresh words, so you can play as often as you like.
