Chain Reaction
Race the clock to build a chain of words, where each one starts with the last letter of the one before. A new starting word every day.
How to play
- You are given a starting word. You have 45 seconds once you press Start the clock.
- Type a word of three or more letters that begins with the last letter of the word before it, then press Enter.
- Words can't be repeated. Each new word scores its length, plus one extra point for every word already in the chain.
- When the clock runs out your chain and score are shown. Beat your best, or compare with a friend using Share.
Tips and strategy
- Plan the ending of each word. Letters like S, E, D and R keep the chain easy to continue.
- Avoid ending on awkward letters such as J, Q, X or Z, since few words start with them.
- Short words keep the chain moving fast, but longer ones score more. Mix them.
- Don't waste time on a word you aren't sure of. A quick safe word beats a long wrong guess.
FAQ
- Does the starting word score?
- No. Only the words you add count, and the starting word just tells you which letter to begin with.
- What if I get stuck?
- Try any word that starts with the needed letter. You can't skip, but you can end the round early with End now.
- Can I play the daily more than once?
- The daily chain counts once, when the clock runs out or you press End now. Practice chains are unlimited.
