Hive Words
Make words from seven letters around a honeycomb, always using the centre letter. Find the pangram that uses all seven. A new hive every day.
How to play
- Seven letters sit in a honeycomb. Build words of four or more letters using only those letters, and every word must include the gold centre letter.
- Tap the letters or type on your keyboard, then press Enter. Letters can be used more than once in a word.
- A four-letter word scores 1 point and longer words score one point per letter. A pangram, a word that uses all seven letters, earns a 7-point bonus.
- Your rank climbs from Seedling to Full Hive as you collect more of the points available. Show all words reveals every answer when you are done.
Tips and strategy
- Look for the pangram first: it often ends in a common suffix such as ING, ED or LY.
- Try adding prefixes and suffixes to words you have already found to get quick extra points.
- Use Shuffle to rearrange the outer letters. A fresh layout often brings new words to mind.
- The word list is broad, so rare but valid words count even if you would not use them every day.
FAQ
- Do plurals and proper nouns count?
- Any word in the dictionary list counts, including plurals and verb forms. Names, abbreviations and hyphenated words do not.
- Is the hive the same for everyone?
- Yes. The daily hive is built from the UTC date, so everyone gets the same seven letters until 00:00 UTC.
- When does the daily count as done?
- Once you reach the Foraging rank (about a fifth of the available points) or reveal the answers, today's hive is marked done.
