Boggle Four
Trace words through a four-by-four grid of letters in three minutes. Longer words score more. A new board every day.
How to play
- Press Start to reveal a four-by-four board of letters. You have three minutes.
- Tap letters to spell a word. Each next letter must touch the last one, sideways, up, down or diagonally, and a cell can be used only once per word.
- Press Submit or Enter to score the word, Clear or Escape to start again, and tap the last letter to step back one.
- Words of 3 to 4 letters score 1 point, then 2, 3 and 5 points as they grow, with 11 points for words of 8 or more letters. When time is up you see every word you missed.
Tips and strategy
- Hunt for short words early to build points, then watch for endings like ING, ED and ER to stretch them.
- Look at common letter pairs such as TH, ER and AN first, then see what they connect to.
- Plurals count too: if you found a word, check whether an S sits next to the last letter.
- On the keyboard, Backspace removes the last tapped letter, which is quicker than Clear.
FAQ
- Can I use the same letter twice in a word?
- Not the same cell. If a letter appears twice on the board you can use each copy once, but a single cell is used at most once per word.
- Why is the board hidden before I start?
- So the timer is fair. The three minutes begin the moment you press Start.
- Is the daily board the same for everyone?
- Yes. It is generated from the UTC date, so everyone plays the same board until 00:00 UTC.
