Chain Sum
Trace one unbroken chain of side-by-side numbers that adds up to the target. A shared daily grid plus practice grids with optional hints.
How to play
- Tap a number to start a chain, then tap a square beside the last one to extend it. Squares cannot be reused.
- Your running sum is shown next to the target. It turns red if you go over.
- Tap an earlier square in your chain to cut it back to that point, or use Undo and Clear.
- Hit the target exactly with a chain of the right length to win. A Hint shows the next square of a working chain and is recorded in your result.
Tips and strategy
- Big numbers in a corner often belong at the start or end of the chain.
- Count the length first. Chains are always one longer than the grid size, so work out the average number you need.
- If the sum is already over the target, cut back instead of adding more.
- Chains move up, down, left and right only, never diagonally.
FAQ
- Is there a unique answer?
- No. Any chain that follows the rules and reaches the target counts, though the grid is built from one known working chain.
- Do hints hurt my score?
- They do not change your time, but the number of hints you used is shown with your result.
- Is the daily the same for everyone?
- Yes. It uses the UTC date as its seed and changes at 00:00 UTC.
