Binary Bits
Switch bits on and off to build a number in binary, or read a binary pattern back into a normal number, against a ticking clock.
How to play
- For a number-to-binary question, tap the bits to turn them on until their place values add up to the target.
- For a binary-to-number question, read the bits and type the decimal number.
- A right answer adds 2 seconds to the clock. A wrong one costs 3 seconds and resets your streak.
- Patterns start with 4 bits and grow to 8 bits as you solve more.
Tips and strategy
- Place values double from right to left: 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128.
- Start from the biggest place value that fits, then work down.
- To read a pattern, add up the place values of every bit that is on.
- A streak of right answers raises the points for each one.
FAQ
- What does a bit's place value mean?
- Each position is worth twice the one to its right. A bit that is on adds its place value to the total.
- When does the clock start?
- The clock starts on your first tap or typed digit, not when the page loads.
- Can I use leading zeros when typing?
- Typed answers are plain decimal numbers. Leading zeros are ignored.
