Sum Guess
Guess the hidden eight-character equation in six tries. Digits, operators and an equals sign, with Wordle-style hints.
How to play
- A hidden equation is exactly eight characters long, such as 12+34=46. It uses digits, + − × ÷ and one equals sign.
- Enter your own valid equation of eight characters. Both sides must be equal, and division must come out exact.
- Green means the right character in the right place, purple means it is in the equation but somewhere else, and dark means it is not there.
- Standard order of operations applies, so multiplication and division happen before addition and subtraction. You have six guesses.
Tips and strategy
- Start with a guess that uses many different digits and at least two operators, such as 48÷6+1=9 or 9+7-3=13.
- Pay attention to the equals sign. Its position tells you the length of the answer and how many digits the left side has.
- Short results mean small numbers: if the equals sign is late, the answer side is just one digit.
- Numbers never start with a zero (07 is not allowed), though a lone 0 is fine.
FAQ
- Why did my guess get rejected?
- A guess must be eight characters, contain an equals sign, and be a true equation under normal precedence with exact division. Check each side adds up.
- Is the daily equation the same for everyone?
- Yes. It is generated from the UTC date, so everyone gets the same equation and it changes at 00:00 UTC.
- Can the answer have a negative or fractional result?
- No. Answers always come out as whole non-negative numbers, and every division in them is exact.
