Slap Speed
Cards flip one after another. The moment a card matches the rank of the one before it, slap. Miss a match or slap too soon and it is a strike, and the deck keeps getting faster.
How to play
- Press Deal. A card appears and the one before it stays in view to the left.
- When the new card has the same rank as the one before it, press SLAP, tap the button, or hit Space or S. Suits do not matter, only the rank.
- A correct slap scores 100 plus up to 100 more for slapping early. Slapping when the ranks differ is a false slap, and letting a match go by is a miss. Both are strikes.
- Three strikes end the run. Each card is on screen for a little less time than the last, down to a quarter of a second faster than where you began.
Tips and strategy
- Do not stare at the new card on its own. Keep your eyes on the pair and compare the rank letters or numbers each time.
- A false slap is as costly as a miss, so when you are unsure it is better to wait a beat than to guess.
- Early slaps score much more than late ones, but only if they are right. Build speed gradually.
- Matches turn up about once in every four cards, so a long quiet stretch usually means one is due.
FAQ
- Can the same suit repeat?
- A match is always two cards of the same rank but different suits, so you only have to compare the numbers and letters.
- Why do I get a strike for a match I could not react to?
- Every card is on screen for the same window and the window shrinks over time. The run is built to be a test of reaction, so the strikes are what end it.
- Is the deal random?
- Yes. Each card is chosen at random, with a fixed chance that it repeats the rank of the previous card.
