Palindrome Hunt
Eight by eight letters hide six words that read the same forwards and backwards, such as LEVEL, RADAR and KAYAK. Hunt them across rows, columns and diagonals, against the clock.
How to play
- Tap the first letter of a palindrome and then the last letter. The two cells must be in a straight line: across, down or diagonal.
- If the letters between them spell a word that reads the same both ways, it lights up and counts as found.
- The clue above the grid lists the lengths of the palindromes still hidden. Find all six to finish.
- Stuck? The hint marks the first letter of a hidden word but adds 10 seconds. Your best time is saved on this device.
Tips and strategy
- Look for a letter that repeats at a distance, like the two Ls in LEVEL or the two Ks in KAYAK. The end letters of a palindrome always match.
- Use the length clue. If only a seven-letter word is left, scan for a letter that appears seven cells apart in a line.
- A palindrome reads the same in both directions, so it does not matter which end you tap first.
- Bonus palindromes that you stumble on, such as EYE or POP, are accepted too, though only the six hidden words count toward finishing.
FAQ
- What counts as a palindrome here?
- Any word of at least three letters in the game dictionary that reads the same forwards and backwards, for example MADAM, REFER or NOON.
- Do I have to find the words in the same direction they were hidden?
- No. Because the word reads the same both ways, tapping the ends in either order works.
- Does a new grid use new words?
- Yes. Each grid hides six palindromes picked at random from the dictionary and places them in random lines.
