Pair Grid
Fill the grid with suns and moons: no three in a row, equal counts in every line, and obey the = and × clues. One solution each.
How to play
- Fill every cell with either a sun or a moon. Tap a cell to cycle sun, moon, empty.
- No more than two suns or two moons may sit next to each other in a row or a column.
- Every row and every column must contain the same number of suns and moons.
- A = sign between two cells means they hold the same symbol and a × sign means they hold different ones. Greyed cells are given and cannot be changed.
Tips and strategy
- If two cells in a line already match, the cells on both sides of them must be the opposite symbol.
- When a row has all its suns placed, every remaining cell in it has to be a moon, and the other way round.
- Look at the clues first: an = next to a given cell tells you the answer for its neighbour straight away.
- Rule-breaking cells glow red. Use that as a hint to find the mistake rather than guessing.
FAQ
- Does every grid have a single solution?
- Yes. A solver checks that exactly one filling satisfies the rules before you see the grid, so you never need to guess.
- What sizes are there?
- The daily grid is 6×6. Practice mode offers 4×4, 6×6 and 8×8.
- Is the daily grid the same for everyone?
- Yes. It is generated from the UTC date, so everyone gets the same puzzle until 00:00 UTC.
