Odd Word
Five words, four of them belong together. Spot the odd one out before the clock wins. A word sorting quiz with a daily set and practice runs.
How to play
- Each question shows five words. Four share a category, such as fruits, planets or tools, and one does not.
- Tap the word that does not belong. A wrong pick is greyed out and counted as a mistake.
- The clock starts on your first tap and stops on the last answer. After each question you see the category that linked the four words.
- Early questions use a clearly different odd word. Later ones borrow a word from a close category, so you need to be exact.
Tips and strategy
- Name the category in your head before you look for the odd word out.
- If two words could be the odd one, ask which of them fits a second group the others do not.
- Later questions use a near miss, such as a vegetable among fruits. Check each word against the strict meaning.
- Finish the daily first, then use practice runs to speed up.
FAQ
- Can a word fit more than one category?
- No. Words that sit in two groups, such as orange or rose, are left out so every question has one right answer.
- Is the daily the same for everyone?
- Yes. It is built from the date, so everyone gets the same questions on the same day.
- How many questions are in a run?
- The daily has ten. Practice runs have eight, twelve or sixteen.
