Light Grid
Tap a light to flip it and its four neighbours, and turn every light off. A shared daily board plus practice boards from 3 by 3 up to 6 by 6.
How to play
- Every square is either lit or dark. Tap a square to flip it and the squares directly above, below, left and right of it.
- Your goal is to leave the whole board dark. The board is always solvable, and the hint line tells you how few presses it takes.
- Pressing the same square twice cancels out, so the order of your presses does not matter, only which squares you press an odd number of times.
- Use Reset to return to the starting pattern without losing your timer.
Tips and strategy
- Work row by row: clear the top row by pressing squares in the row below, then repeat down the board.
- Do not chase single lights around the board. Look for pairs and lines that one press fixes.
- If you are stuck, Reset and try a different first row rather than undoing many presses.
- Practice on 3 by 3 first to feel how a press spreads, then move up in size.
FAQ
- Is the daily board the same for everyone?
- Yes. It is built from the UTC date, so everyone gets the same starting pattern until 00:00 UTC.
- Is every board solvable?
- Always. Each board is made by pressing squares from an all-dark board, so a solution exists by construction.
- Does my time count if I Reset?
- Yes. The timer keeps running, so Reset only helps if you are sure your first attempt went wrong.
