Lemon Stand
Run a lemonade stand for 12 days. Read the forecast, choose how many cups to make, set your price and decide whether to advertise, then finish with as much cash as you can.
How to play
- You start with $20.00. Each day you choose how many cups to make (25c each), the price per cup and an advertising budget.
- Then open for business. Customers come based on the weather, your price, your advertising and your reputation.
- Unsold lemonade is thrown away at the end of the day, so making too many is a waste and making too few loses sales.
- After 12 days your cash is your score. The daily game uses the same weather for everyone, and the practice game is random each time.
Tips and strategy
- Hot days bring far more customers than rainy ones. Make more cups and charge a little more when it is hot.
- Forecasts are right about four days in five, so don't bet all your cash on one.
- Very high prices cost you reputation and low prices build it. A fair price keeps customers coming back.
- Advertising pays off best on hot or sunny days, when there are more customers to attract.
FAQ
- Is the daily game the same for everyone?
- Yes. The weather, forecasts and random variation come from the date, so everyone faces the same 12 days.
- Is real money involved?
- No. It is a simple simulation with pretend cash, and there is nothing to buy.
- What does the Suggest a plan button do?
- It fills in a sensible plan from the forecast. You can adjust it before you open, and you can ignore it entirely.
