Hex Link
Link the left and right sides of a hex board with an unbroken chain of your stones before the computer links top to bottom.
How to play
- You play blue and move first. The computer plays red.
- Tap an empty hex to place a stone. Stones never move and are never captured.
- Build an unbroken chain of your stones from the left edge to the right edge to win.
- The computer is trying to join the top edge to the bottom edge, so your chain also blocks it. There are no draws.
Tips and strategy
- The centre hexes are the most useful. They connect to the most neighbours.
- Two stones with two empty hexes between them are as good as joined, since the computer can only block one.
- Block by placing a stone in front of the opposing chain, not right next to its end.
- Press Hint if you are stuck. It suggests a strong move without playing it for you.
FAQ
- Can the game end in a draw?
- No. On a full Hex board exactly one player has linked their two sides, so someone always wins.
- What do the difficulty levels change?
- Easy makes occasional slips, Medium plays carefully, and Hard looks at many more possible games before it moves.
- Is my win streak saved?
- Your best win streak is stored on this device in your browser only.
