Element Guess
Match periodic table clues to their elements: a symbol, an atomic number or a name. A quick chemistry quiz with a daily set and practice runs.
How to play
- Each question gives one clue about an element: its symbol, its atomic number or its name.
- Pick the matching answer from four choices. For a name clue you pick the symbol, and for the other clues you pick the name.
- Wrong picks are greyed out and counted as mistakes. The clock starts on your first tap and stops on the last answer.
- Early questions use the lightest twenty elements. Later ones add iron, copper, silver, gold and other well known elements.
Tips and strategy
- Learn the symbols that do not match their English names: Na for sodium, K for potassium, Fe for iron, Ag for silver, Au for gold, Pb for lead.
- The first ten atomic numbers go hydrogen, helium, lithium, beryllium, boron, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, fluorine, neon.
- Noble gases sit at 2, 10, 18, 36 and 54, which helps you place the neighbours.
- Finish the daily first, then use practice runs to drill the elements you miss.
