Cross Out
Shade numbers so none repeats in any row or column, no two shaded squares touch, and the unshaded squares stay connected. Daily and practice grids.
How to play
- Tap a number to shade it out. Tap again to bring it back.
- No number may appear twice among the unshaded squares of any row or of any column.
- Shaded squares may never touch each other along a side, and all unshaded squares must form one connected group.
- Press Check for a hint on what is still wrong. The puzzle completes the moment all three rules hold.
Tips and strategy
- If a number appears three times in a line, the middle one is never the one you can keep.
- A square sandwiched between two equal numbers can usually stay unshaded.
- Shading a square means all four neighbours must stay open. Use that to rule out neighbours.
- Red outlines mark shaded squares that touch. Fix those first.
FAQ
- Is there only one solution?
- Not necessarily. Any shading that meets all three rules counts as solved, and the game checks the rules rather than a stored answer.
- What does Check do?
- It tells you whether numbers still repeat, shaded squares touch, or the open squares are split into separate groups.
- Is the daily grid shared?
- Yes. The daily grid is built from the UTC date and resets at 00:00 UTC.
