Link Words
Find a word that goes with the one shown, and a bot answers with its own, building a chain. Three lives, no repeats, and every link scores a point.
How to play
- A word is shown. Choose the word from the five options that goes with it, such as spoon with fork or rain with cloud.
- A right pick scores a point. The bot then answers with a word that links to yours, and you must link to the bot's word.
- Each wrong pick costs a life. You have three lives, and no word may be used twice in one chain.
- If the bot cannot answer your word, you get a bonus of five points and a fresh chain starts.
Tips and strategy
- Think of groups, such as kitchen tools, weather, farm animals, body parts or colours. Words in the same group link.
- Some words belong to two groups, such as owl, which is both a bird and a woodland animal, so there may be more than one right answer.
- Several options can be right at once. Take whichever you are surest of.
- Read all five before choosing. The odd ones out are usually obvious.
FAQ
- Why does that word go with this one?
- Words link when they belong to the same everyday group. The game has about 26 of them, such as kitchen, ocean, music and time.
- Can the bot be stumped?
- Yes, though it is rare. The bot picks the reply that gives you the fewest follow-ups, so you will usually have to out-think it.
- Is my best score saved?
- Yes, on this device in your browser only.
