Hue Test
One tile in the grid is a slightly different shade. Tap it. The difference shrinks and the grid grows every round. How sharp is your colour eye?
How to play
- A grid of colour tiles appears. All are the same shade except one that is a little lighter or darker.
- Tap the odd tile. The clock starts on your first tap.
- A wrong tap is marked and counted as a mistake. Keep looking for the right tile.
- Rounds get harder: the difference gets smaller and the grid gets bigger. Clear them all to finish.
Tips and strategy
- Squint slightly or relax your focus. Small brightness differences are easier to see that way.
- Look at the whole grid at once rather than scanning tile by tile.
- Turn your screen brightness up and avoid glare for the most reliable result.
- Screens and lighting vary, so compare your time with your own earlier runs.
FAQ
- Does this test colour blindness?
- No. The odd tile differs in lightness, not just hue, and the game is only for fun. It is not a medical test.
- Is the daily grid the same for everyone?
- Yes. The ten daily rounds are built from the UTC date, though your screen may show colours slightly differently.
- Why are some rounds so hard?
- The brightness gap shrinks each round on purpose until it is only a few percentage points.
