Fleet Hunt
Hide your fleet and hunt the computer's ships on a 10 by 10 grid. Three computer levels, from random guessing to a probability-based hunter.
How to play
- Your five ships are placed at random. Shuffle until you like the layout, then press Start battle.
- Tap a square in Enemy waters to fire. A cross is a hit, a dot is a miss.
- The computer fires back after every shot of yours. A ship sinks when all its squares are hit.
- Sink all five enemy ships before the computer sinks yours. Fewer shots is a better score.
Tips and strategy
- Search in a checkerboard pattern. The smallest ship is two squares long so you cannot miss one by skipping every other square.
- After a hit, fire at the four neighbouring squares, then follow the line in both directions.
- Ships never overlap, so once you sink a ship, treat its squares as water when you plan the next shot.
- Hard level plays the odds. If you want a gentler game, try Easy or Medium.
FAQ
- How does the computer choose its shots?
- Easy fires at random. Medium hunts around hits and otherwise searches on a checkerboard. Hard counts every place the remaining ships could still fit and shoots at the likeliest square.
- Can I place my ships myself?
- Not yet. Your fleet is placed at random and you can shuffle as often as you like before starting.
- What does Best mean?
- Best is the fewest shots you needed to win at that level. Wins are counted per level in this browser.
