Colour Clash
A colour name appears in a clashing ink. Pick the colour of the ink, not the word. Thirty seconds, and wrong answers cost you time.
How to play
- Press Start. A colour word appears, such as BLUE written in red ink.
- Choose the button that matches the colour of the ink, not what the word says.
- You have 30 seconds. A wrong answer costs 2 seconds and breaks your streak.
- Use the buttons, keys 1 to 4, or the first letter of the colour on a keyboard.
Tips and strategy
- Ignore the meaning of the word. Look at the colour as if the letters were a blob of paint.
- Say the ink colour in your head before you look at the buttons.
- Speed matters, but a wrong answer costs two seconds, so accuracy pays for itself.
- About one word in four matches its ink. Do not assume a clash every time.
FAQ
- Why is this hard?
- Reading is automatic, so the word competes with the colour you are trying to name. This is called the Stroop effect.
- What does a wrong answer cost?
- Two seconds off the clock and your streak resets to zero.
- Is my best score saved?
- Yes, on this device only.
